Tampa Animal Law by Attorney Mina Morgan
When my German shepherd, Mackey, was cited as a "vicious dog", I discovered how confusing and frustrating these cases are even for a lawyer qualified to try death penalty cases!
I could not find anyone in this area with any significant experience in these cases. Mackey's case was finally dismissed but it taught me the need for animal lawyers to help people represent and protect their pets. I was also pretty mad about my own experience with Amimal Services in that case and decided that I wanted to make it more difficult for them to win cases like mine. When I became semi-retired 2 years ago I began concentrating my practice in the representation of pet owners whose animals were charged with being vicious, dangerous, at large, nuisances, or have had their pet injured by another animal.
I also have represented several rescue groups, breeders, a horse farm and a dog day care center. Most of my clients are surprised that they can afford my services and are hesitant to call lawyers. I represent more clients on civil animal citations than any other lawyer in Tampa and can keep my fees low because I handle so many of these cases.
I am familiar with a number of trainers and am a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, Inc. (APDT). I also am familiar with the Veterinary Behaviorists who are available to treat problem dogs because of my not so good but much loved dog, Murphy. I want to provide cost-effective skillful representation to make the process less nerve wrecking and time consuming to my clients. After my personal experience with Animal Services and dog Mackey, I now take great pride in educating my fellow dog lovers about the law so they are not unduly intimidated or harrassed.
